Sharing Post-traumatic Growth information and examples arising from the 2009 Victorian Bushfires.
A presentation of research and resources exploring post-traumatic growth, informed by people involved with the bushfires.
Presenter, Rhonda Abotomey, lost multiple family members in Gippsland on Black Saturday. Hearing the words ‘Post-traumatic Growth’ was a light bulb moment.
Educating and talking about PTG - the hope and positive change born amongst the havoc of traumatic experience - provides another tool for navigating direct and vicarious trauma.
Relevant to all hazards, this capacity building event supports individual and community trauma preparedness and recovery.
